#43 Brittany Lincicome

Home Course: Clearwater Country Club – Clearwater, Florida (public access)

The “Bam-Bam” of Public Golf

Known as “Bam-Bam” on the LPGA Tour for her prodigious length off the tee, Brittany Lincicome has built a career as one of the most powerful and fearless players in women’s golf. Her roots? A small-town public-access facility in Clearwater, Florida, where she learned to launch towering drives against the warm Gulf Coast breeze.

While she’s now a two-time major champion and multiple-time Solheim Cup player, Lincicome’s journey from public-course kid to global star reflects the same Muni Kids ethos: you don’t need an exclusive membership to play championship golf.

A Clearwater Start

Lincicome was born in 1985 and grew up in the heart of Florida’s west coast. Her golf story began at Clearwater Country Club, a semi-public facility with affordable rates and open access to the local community. While the word “Country Club” is in the name, Clearwater operates like a muni in its spirit and accessibility, anyone can book a tee time, and the atmosphere is far more flip-flops-and-T-shirt than blazers-and-ties.

This is where a young Brittany first picked up a club, encouraged by her parents to try the game. By the time she was a teenager, she was playing every chance she got, sometimes walking 36 holes in the Florida heat.

Developing a Power Game

The fairways at Clearwater aren’t overly tight, which gave Lincicome room to swing aggressively. She quickly became known for her long drives, a skill she complemented with a fearless attitude around the greens.

Without the constraints of private-club etiquette or pressure, she was free to experiment, try new shots, and embrace the natural athleticism that would later become her calling card on the LPGA Tour.

Junior Success and Turning Professional

Lincicome’s power and competitive edge began showing up in junior tournaments throughout Florida. She also had the unique experience of serving as a volunteer at the LPGA Tour’s St. Petersburg Open, where she carried signs for players and got an up-close view of the professionals she would one day compete against.

She turned professional in 2004 and earned her LPGA card through Q-School later that year.

Career Achievements

  • LPGA Tour Wins: 8
  • Major Championships: 2 (2009 & 2015 ANA Inspiration)
  • Solheim Cup Teams: 6 appearances for Team USA
  • Known For: One of the longest hitters in women’s golf, often averaging over 270 yards off the tee

Her 2009 ANA Inspiration win was sealed with an eagle on the 72nd hole — a shot that perfectly encapsulated her aggressive, go-for-broke style.

The Muni Mentality in a Major Champion

Lincicome’s upbringing at a public-access course shaped her competitive identity:

  • Confidence in Aggression – Public courses like Clearwater reward bold play when you can pull it off, and Brittany learned to trust her swing.
  • Community-Fueled Growth – She was encouraged by local regulars who took pride in watching her talent develop.
  • Comfort Under Pressure – Having played countless casual money games and weekend matches at a public course, she thrived in the heat of professional competition.

Breaking Barriers Beyond the LPGA

In 2018, Lincicome became just the sixth woman in history to compete in a PGA Tour event when she teed it up at the Barbasol Championship. Though she missed the cut, she impressed with her composure and competitive spirit, earning respect from peers across both tours.

Giving Back to Public Golf

Lincicome remains tied to her roots, frequently hosting junior clinics and charity events at public and semi-public courses in Florida. Her visibility and willingness to give back reinforce her role as a role model for young golfers who don’t have access to elite private clubs.

Why She’s #43 on the Countdown

Brittany Lincicome embodies the power of public golf to produce elite athletes. She learned her game in an accessible, welcoming environment and carried that muni confidence all the way to major championships and global recognition.

In the Muni Kids Muni 50, she represents the bold, fearless muni kid who takes big swings, both literally and figuratively.
